Report
Dordrecht, 21 July, 2003 - After the failed motor test of November, 2001, where the safety mechanism didn't work and the back closure of the motor was blown out. Since a new safety mechanism has been designed and built by Peter Heeren. After a few months we were ready for a new series of tests, but unfortunately their were some legal issues. After these were solved, a test day was organized.
We were to test two small grains: a hollow tube grain with a klemmung of 5.5mm (CMT0301) and a Bates grain with a klemmung of 4.8mm (CMT0302). The hollow tube test reached 20 bar, but the Bates grain test didn't work as planned. After a few seconds when the pressure reached 60 bar the safety mechanism was activated. The conclusion afterwards was that their wasn't enough distance between the closures and the grain, so the grain behaved as a hollow tube grain. We already knew from the last test that a klemmung of 5.0mm was to narrow for the new Kalinitrox, so a klemmung of 4.8mm was also too narrow.
