As a youth activity, the NAVRO has a model rocketry group. Model rockets are small rockets made of light materials like balsa wood, wound paper tubes, plastics etc. Model rockets are propelled by specially manufactured rocket motors using gunpowder as propellant. All model rockets have a parachute or some kind of other recovery device and can be launched again.
During the NAVRO model rocket club evening the youth members design and build their own model rockets under supervision of senior members. Several senior NAVRO members also build model rockets. The NAVRO launches model rockets locally or at amateur rocketry launch campaigns. We also visit model rocket launches of other clubs. All model rocketry activities are done in accordance with the international accepted NAR safety codes (of American origin) and local Dutch laws.
