After launch your rocket could get lost. It's not funny when your expensive rocket with electronics ends up between some bushes, never to be found again. For this reason we put a little transmitter in the rocket that transmits a beeping sound. With a receiver and directional antenna you can find your rocket back. With the NAVRO we have a receiver and antenna and we use a cheap 433MHz module powered by a 9V block battery for transmitter. The modules are for example for sale through Conrad.

Some people put a loud beeper in their rocket to make retrieval easier but this uses a lot of battery power. Another option is a flashing light that goes on at dark. Of coarse you'll have to wait till night and it uses a lot of battery power.
